Terms and Conditions

I am a state registered Physiotherapist (Health and Care Professions Council) and I am registered with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. I am legally required to adhere to their rules of conduct.

Any colleagues within Flint Physiotherapy will also have relevant memberships.

Consent

Physiotherapists must gain informed consent from clients prior to starting treatment. In the event that the client is unable to make an informed decision, I must discuss their health needs with their Next of Kin and we must agree that the treatment it is in their best interests. I will assess every client then we can collaboratively form goals and a plan for treatment.

All data is stored securely and will not be shared without your consent.

Please discuss with me if you have any questions.

Initial Assessment.

The initial assessment will be a 60-minute appointment where I will gather information about the client including medical history, medication, the impact of their problem on daily life and I will often ask them to demonstrate different activities/movements. Depending on different circumstances it is often advisable to have a family member/friend present to help answer questions, particularly if the client has difficulty remembering the outcomes of hospital appointments or tests.

Once the initial assessment has taken place, I will be able to offer my opinion on realistic goals and plans for follow-up sessions. This can differ between clients with similar problems according to their ability to perform exercises or follow the advice given.

Follow-up Appointments

Following the initial appointment, I will be able to advise on the frequency and duration of follow-up appointments. As a guide follow-up appointments are usually 45 minutes in duration. Shorter sessions are sometimes more appropriate, but this needs to be determined on discussion after the initial assessment.

Physiotherapy Assistants

In some circumstances a client can be seen by a Physiotherapy Assistant. This will be discussed with you if it is appropriate. The initial assessment will always be completed by a qualified physiotherapist, then a treatment plan can be written for the assistant to follow. Assistants have agreed competencies and will only be asked to work within the limits of their knowledge and skills.

Travel

We do not charge for travel unless the appointment is over 15 miles from our base address. Travel will then be charged at £0.50 per mile over that distance.

Cancellations

Please provide 24 hours’ notice to cancel appointments. Cancellations outside this time, are subject to a cancellation fee. We will ensure that you have relevant contact details to make a cancellation at the earliest opportunity.

Fees

Sessions fees can either be paid immediately after each session or invoiced at the end of the month. Please contact me if you plan to pay via an insurance company or get your fees reimbursed by a healthcare plan. Payment can be via BACS transfer, cheque or cash.
